I’ve been in the non-profit sector for 15 years, working in development and program management and serving on boards for social services and leadership development organizations. I first began my career in adult literacy programs out of a deep commitment to elevating diverse voices. Eventually, I went on to manage workforce development, immigration legal services, home health, and civic engagement programs as well.
I have experience developing and managing organizational and program budgets of up to $2.5 million, managing coalitions and subcontracting agencies, strategic planning and leadership development, designing and evaluating programs, conducting community needs assessments, drafting content for websites, fundraising campaigns, and technical material, and–of course–grants development, management, and writing.
Examples of successful grants that I have authored and/or project managed include:
$2,000,000 from MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving Open Call
$1,155,965 from the Illinois Community College Board
$240,000 from the MacArthur Foundation
$207,021 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity
$100,000 from the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events
$97,947 from the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Bureau of Violence Prevention
$80,000 from Solidaire Network
$70,000 from the City of Chicago’s Department of Family and Support Services
$64,500 from United Way of Metropolitan Chicago
$50,000 from the Walder Foundation
$40,000 from the Mortenson Family Foundation
I specialize—and have a special interest—in supporting organizations that work in the fields of immigrant and refugee rights, though I have experience supporting organizations that work across a wide range of issue areas, including reproductive rights, environmental advocacy, workforce development, arts access, and more.
